Question
Jim,
I have a penny that has stamped on the from right side
an loutline of the state of Missouri with "MO" isnide the
outline. I am sure it has been stamped with this for some reason. Do you happen to know the story behind this?
Thanks
Alvin

Answer
Alvin, in the 70s, a novelty company made an entire set of these for all states, with an outline of the map of the state and its postal initials on cents.  They were sold as novelties for around a dollar (a nice profit).  You can try going to www.ebay.com and doing a search for stamped cent or stamped penny and see what is selling today.  Others were made too -- such as a pipe (Lincoln smoking a pipe) or an impression of Kennedy looking at Lincoln, Jim Lawniczak
