Question

Old coin
Hi I found a coin barried in a tin on my farm,It has George Washingtons head(the heads protrude) on both sides made of silver looks to be hand carved ,Around the same size as a quarter I can't read the date on the coin or denomanation. Is this the first conmemberative coin?

Answer

Hello Richard,
Hello Richard,

This is not the first commemorative coin. In fact with out a date, denomination and country name on it cannot be a coin.
In the USA the first commemorative was in 1892 and had Columbus on it.
It is a medal usually listed under the heading WASHINGTONIA in web searches. There are more Washington medals than most other subjects. Presidential medal to Funeral Medals and many made after his death as well.

Sorry I can't help more wit this item.

Good Luck

Here is a similar design but the image does not seem to be struck as high as yours looks
