Coin and Paper Money Collecting/unreeded quarter

Question
I have a 1969 quarter with no ridges on the edge.  It is smooth, unreeded.  Is that a production error?  Does it make it more valuable?  How would I determine its value?

Answer
Hi Jeff,

You have to look closely at the edge, make sure that the coin is exact diameter it should be and that it has not been tampered with.

Coins that lack the reeding and collectable.  It is a minting eroor and there are people who especially collect such errors.

I suggest you search eBay for similar items to see what yours might be worth.  You may have to get it certified by PCGS or NGC though to get the best price.

Good Luck
