Question
1984 penny with silver/ or metal rim is it worth anything other than 1 cent.

Answer
Dr. Smith, the 1984 cent was made out of zinc with a thin copper coating.  Zinc is the color of silver.  It sounds like you may have a cent where some of the copper coating rubbed off on the rim so that the zinc shows through.  If that's the case (and an expert would have to review it to be sure), then no it isn't worth anything other than 1 cent, Jim Lawniczak
