Coin and Paper Money Collecting/2002 Penny

Question
My daughter found a penny that is perfect in appearance but not copper colored at all - it is a pure "silver" color.  It is not peeled back to a zinc layer - all details of the penny on both sides are like new and clear and it is full thickness.  Is this a mint error or were some of these purposely run?  Does it have any extraordinary value or should she just keep it as a "lucky penny"?  TIA, Mark

Answer
Hi Mark,
The penny is most likely missing the copper plating.  Not saying it was peeled off, simply that the coin blank never went through the plating process.
I would pay $35 for the coin if you want to sell it.
Let me know and I will provide shipping instructions.
