Coin and Paper Money Collecting/Bicentennial Coin Set

Question
Dan,

Thanks for taking my question.
I have several 1976 coin sets which contain a quarter, fifty cent, a dollar coin.  They are sealed in a plastic container shaped like the United States.  I cannot find any literature on these coin sets.  Can you help me?

Thanks

William Stanford

Answer
William,

These sets were assembled by a private company.  Somebody bought some holders (I believe from Capital Plastics Co.) and put the coins in there themself.  Therefore there is no literature about them.

Value will depend on type and condition of the coins included -- whether they are the silver ones, or are proofs, or are just circulated coins.  Add about a dollar for the holder.

I hope this helps,

Dan

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.

Experience

I've been a coin dealer since the 1980's and a coin collector since the 1960's. I specialize in U.S. Silver Coins and have an active online website -- The Working Man's Rare Coins -- http://www.workingmancoins.com -- offering information and inventory in U.S. coins.
