Coin and Paper Money Collecting/$100 Alabama Bill

Question
Hi PAPAJACK
My mother has an 1800's $100 Alabama Money Bill. We're trying to get a professional quote on its value. Are you familiar with this type of currency?
Thanks,
Ben

Answer
Hello Ben,

I would need more information to find this in a catalog. Most states (including Alabama) had banks that issued their own bank notes in the past. Most went under and the currency was not accepted anywhere else.
There would be numbers on the note as well as series dates, designs and signatures. All this needs to be checked to evaluate the note.

Your library may have a book titled "Standard Catalog of United States Paper Money” by Krause and Lemke
It has listings with images of all official notes released. It also has values listed but they are not sale prices and no dealers use them.
Sorry I could not be more help but you can try another expert at this site.

Thank You and Good Luck
