Question

1976 double stamped Pe
I have a 1976 penny with a stamp of Maine with ME inside the state, it is to the right side facing Lincoln, it's a lot like the Lincoln-Kennedy penny. Is this a collectable item? Thanks.

Answer
Hello Jill,

They are only collected as a novelty item.
These are real cents that have been altered. Most people have never seen a totally complete set with all 50 states.

I do come across the sets occasionally at coin shows. I know of no one currently selling or producing the state One Cent sets.

There is no added collector value to it since it was modified by a private entity after it left the mint. They were made only as a novelty

The demand by true coin collectors is non existent at this time since they are altered one cent coins.
