Coin and Paper Money Collecting/2007 Washington Aluminum Quarter

Question
I acquired a newer quarter that appears to be "different". I did a search for
aluminum quarter and found a old post of yours. Are these coins rare? What do
you recommend me doing? I was considering taking it to a coin shop and seeing
what they tell me.
Thanks

Answer
Hello Monica,

I am curious as to why you think it is aluminum? What is the mint mark on the coin?

The weight of an aluminum quarter would be much lighter than 5.67 grams the normal copper-nickel quarter weighs. It would weigh less than a US Nickel if it is aluminum.

If you want send me some Postal Zip Codes for your location. I will look for some knowledgeable dealers for you.
They will be an AMERICAN NUMISMATIC ASSOCIATION MEMBER/DEALER near there. They are ethical and trustworthy.

Good Luck
