Question
I have a complete set of an Eatons company $50 astrology coin set there were only 200 sets made and I have one of them. there are 12 $50 coins in each set. all are solid silver and have only serial #s on them no dates.Mr. Eaton is on the obverse and the astrology symbol is on the other.any idea of there value?

Answer
Timothy,

Unfortunately, privately minted items like this have almost no resale market -- there are plenty of people that will pay you for the silver your coins contain, but good luck finding somebody that would pay you any more than that, even if there were only 200 sets made.

Find out the total silver content in Troy ounces, then go to www.kitco.com to get the current value of silver per Troy ounce, then do a little multiplication and you will have the approximate value of your set.

I hope this helps,

Dan

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.

Experience

I've been a coin dealer since the 1980's and a coin collector since the 1960's. I specialize in U.S. Silver Coins and have an active online website -- The Working Man's Rare Coins -- http://www.workingmancoins.com -- offering information and inventory in U.S. coins.
