Question
I have a few us coins quarter and dimes that look like they missed getting the silver on them they look like brown and some lighter brown is there a name for this and is it common? Thanks new to saving my change but really enjoying it!I also have a 19?9 quarter missing a number are these common ?Thanks again Jen

Answer
Hi Jennifer,
Sorry about the delay in answering your question.

It sounds like the coins are missing the outer nickel layer.  Todays coins are "sandwich" coins made of copper centers and nickel outside layers.

These range in value from $5 to $50 depending on the denomination and date.

Check ebay for similar coins, they are there.

Good Luck
