Coin and Paper Money Collecting/double stamped penny

Question
Hello, I have a penny that is double stamped on both sides. It has a Lincoln head on both sides stamped on top of the Lincoln mem on both sides. On one side the one cent stamp is spelled out correctly however the letters are all backwards. I can't read the date on one side, I can only read the 196, so I'm not sure if it's the same yr, but it kinda looks like 1966. Is this considered a rare coin?

Answer
Laurie, an expert would have to see this to be sure, but it sounds to me that the most likely explanation is that someone took a cent and put it up against another and hit the pair with a hammer.  That would transfer the details from the top coin to the bottom coin in a mirror manner.  If that is the case there would be no extra value.  But again, an expert would have to view your piece to be sure, Jim Lawniczak
