Question

1973 roosevelt
Greetings and thank you for taking the time to answer my question.  Recently I came across a 1973 dime with a bubbly distorted face. Looking atit from the side the face stands up on coin. I have scoured the web and cannot find anything that even resembles this dime. How do I find out its worth?

Answer
Deanna,

I have seen something like this on a half dollar, but what it was is that somebody had used a tool on the back side of the coin to raise the image on the front side.  If the back side of your coin is similarly pushed in, then that is what you have -- now considered an altered novelty item, worth maybe a couple dollars as such.

If the back of your coin is normal, and just the front side is bubbled up like this, then I have no idea of the cause.  If so, you should send magnified pictures of both sides to an error dealer I know :

I hope this helps,

Dan

CommentIndeed the back of the coin is perfectly normal in every way. That is what sparked my intrest in the first place. Thank you again for your time and I will follow up on it as you advised.
