Papa Jack - can you tell me where i might find a 2006 silver dollar - a friend of mine always gives his grandbabies a silver dollar from the year they were born, well one he hasnt gotten to see (family in military) and now they are coming in to see him and he wants to be able to continue the tradition - only he hasnt been able to find one.

Hello Lisa,                 

The only thing I can think of is what is called the Silver Eagle One Dollar Bullion Coin.
It is  .999 fine-silver in the form of a US Coin and issued by the mint. They come in both Proof and Un-Circulated versions.
The quickest way to get one is from a local dealer or coin shop.  

Silver is at a high price right now and it may cost more than $20 for the uncirculated coin and more than $35 for the Proof Version which comes in a presentation coin holder.
You can get them by mail order but it may take two to three weeks.
