Coin and Paper Money Collecting/1913 Gold Indian Quarter Coin

Question
Hi Joe,

I'm not a coin collector by any means but I have a mint condition 1913 Indian Quarter Coin. I mean there isn't a blemish on this thing. Ironic because I found it when I was cleaning out my great aunt's assisted living home. I've been told by a few coin buyers it's worth about $140+ but I'm not sure who to trust. I would like to sell it because I have no need for it. How much do you think it's really worth? How much should I sell it for? And whom should I sell it to? Thanks.

Answer
Hi Matt,

Nice find!  I had a local person come into my office with a similar story about 2 years ago.  The only difference was that he found 187 gold coins, all wrapped carefully in paper bags and stuffed under the sink!

Your 1913 Quarter Eagle gold piece is worth a minimum of $140 but could be worth upto $300-$400 if it is in mint condition.  If you would like to send it to me, insured mail, I will take a look and make you my best offer.

You can email me directly at JoeHylas@aol.com or call me in the office at 800-474-6960 and I will instruct you how to ship it.

Sincerely,
Joe Hylas
