Question
QUESTION: What was the U. S. dollar value of a 1936 German Mark coin? What was the
conversion value at that time/

ANSWER: No Clue Charles.  This may have been right before or after the devaluation of teh mark.  Traditionally, foreign coins which are not silver or gold have little value.

QUESTION: What was the value of silver in 1936 dollars?

Answer
Hello Again,

I can not locate any historical charts for 1936.  However, I think it is safe to say that it was $1 or less.
My reason for saying this is that $1 of US Coins (Dimes, Quarters, Halves and Dollars) contains about 3/4 oz of pure silver.  US Coinage was silver backed so the face value would have to be more than the silver content.
When the US went off the silver standard and coins were converted to copper/nickel, it was because the silver used was worth more than the face value of the coinage.

I hope this has helped you.
