Question
I was recently going through some change when i happened upon a 1973 penny with an s for the mint stamp. I am not very well versed in coin collecting, and I'm not sure what mint that is. Is it valuable at all? What mint is that? Thanks for the help.

Answer
Hello Bryan,

The S mint mark is for the San Francisco Mint in California.

All Three US mints used to produce coins for circulation. The San Francisco mint last made One Cent Coins for circulation in 1975. It now only produces the Cent in proof condition for collectors.

I hope this information helps. Please remember to rate this answer. And check the nomination box on the rating page below any comments you may have.
