Question
I have a 1997 penny and it looks silver what is it and how much is it worth. ,thanks ron

Answer
Hi Ron,

There are a couple of possibilities here.  One is that it is a normal penny that was silver plated.  Another possibility is that it is a normal ZINC penny without the outer copper plating.  The 3rd possibility is that it is a penny that was struck on a coin blank meant for either a dime or a foreign coin of similar size.

the coin would have to be physically inspected to determine what you have and the value.
