Coin and Paper Money Collecting/confederate coin

Question
I have been reading online for hours about this coin that I was given by my great grandmother. It is a confederate half dollar piece. It has the man on the horse on the front as I have seen others say and yes it does say half dollar on the back. And I have looked at the picture that you have provided. But mine does not look like picture that you provided. It is similar but not the same one. Is there others? And how can I find out more about this coin? Thank you, Anita

Answer
Hello Anita,

I do not know what picture you were looking at. I am asked occasionally about these coins.
All so far are fakes, copies or fantasy pieces. The value is in the design and any precious metal they may contain. Some are silver but many are just a base metal.
There was only the one design used on the four original Confederate Half Dollar coins made. Many others have privately made issues for things like Civil War re-enactments, civic organizations and coin clubs.
I am not able to research yours from the description you have in the question.
If you want a dealer near you to look at the piece for an opinion write me again and mark the question private.

If there any more information you require on this question just ask.

Thank You and Good Luck
