Question

1921 Morgan Silver Dol
I have a 1921 Morgan Silver Dollar. I don't know how to tell what mint it is. Can you tell me what it's worth? It is in good condition; details are very visible and all hash marks on edge of coin are in tact. (pictures attached)

Answer
Rachel,

I can't quite make it out from your pictures, but if you look at the back side of the coin, just above the "DO" in DOLLAR, you will see a little "D" or "S".  The D is for Denver, while an S would be for San Francisco.

In this case, since 1921 is the highest mintage year for all Morgan Dollars, and since your coin does show evidence of having been in circulation, it doesn't really matter what the mintmark is -- the value is the same regardless -- about $12.00

I hope this helps,

Dan

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.
