Question
Hi Joe, My name is misty and I have looked up and down on the internet for information bout this penny I have..Its a 1983 Penny that appears "Silver" in color to the eye and does not stick to a magnet. Could I possibly have a Penny worth a "pretty penny"?

Answer
Hi Misty,

A couple of things are possible.  First off, starting in 1982, pennies were made of zince and copper plated.  Zinc is not attracted to a magnet.  Maybe the plating was never applied, or simply wore off.

Another possibility is that the penny was struck on the wrong planchet, maybe one used for a dime or a foreign coin.

The coin would have to be weighed and physically inspected by a professional to determine what you have.
