Question

2008p error cent
i recently pulled 3 coins out of a bu roll of 2008p lincoln pennies that have a very visible crease in the 2 @ the bottom left. i have pictures. would like to know more.

Answer
Kenneth,

Looks to me like extra metal filling a chip in the coin die from excessive use -- in other words, the obverse die wore out, causing a chip to come out of it, and then all the pennies struck with that die from then on, all have that extra bit of metal in that spot where the chip came out of the die.

Estimated value is a couple dollars.
