Question
Could you tell me what an 1884 Silver Dollar (in excellent condition) might be worth?  Also, I have a 1944 Silver half dollar, a 1944, 1956 and 1954 Silver quarters.  All are in excellent condition.  Are Mercury head dimes valuable?  I have 13 of those - from 1946 through 1957.

Thank you.

Answer
Jackie,

The coins you listed are all considered common dates by collectors -- valued only for the silver they contain.

The 1884 Morgan Silver Dollar is worth about $15.00

The 1944 Walking Liberty Silver half dollar is worth about $5.00

The 1944, 1956 and 1954 Silver quarters are worth about $2.50 each

Mercury head dimes (1916 to 1945) are worth AT LEAST $1.00 apiece -- more depending on date & condition.

The 1946 through 1957 Roosevelt dimes you have are worth $1.00 apiece.

I hope this helps,

Dan

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.
