Coin and Paper Money Collecting/paper money

Question
QUESTION: I have several paper money items in envelopes that I decided to explore values.
Most of them I was able to determine their list value.

However, there are two items that I am lost on and am turning to you for help.

The first is what appears to be a promissory note issued by the Bank Of The
United States for $1000. It is dated Dec 15, 1840. On each side of the note are
three pictures of men. The only one I recognize is the middle picture on the
right and that is of Ben Franklin. There are two signatures on the bottom. The
one on the left is difficult to make out but the one on the right appears to be
a signature by the name of Dunlapp. The bill measure 7-3/8 X 3-1/2.

The second item is a Virginia Treasury Note for $1. It is dated July 21, 1862.
The top two corners each have a "red seal with the number 1 in then". The bottom
left has a picture of a gentleman. The bottom right has a black seal with the
figure one in it. There are two signatures on this note as well. The one on the bottom left appears
to be a last name of Nuson. And the signature on the right appears to be Hughes.

I am aware that any list values are what one could expect to pay at a dealer to
purchase the item and that selling an item one could expect only to receive 20%
to 30% of that total depending on condition and demand.

Thanks for your help. I am one of the "experts" on the stamp collecting section
of this website so I am aware and appreciative of your time.

Thanks again for any help you can give.

Terry
P.S. I am also aware that many similar items are sold as "souvenirs". So I am just gathering info until I can get the bills looked at. Thanks again.

ANSWER: Hi Terry,

Can you send me a scan of the notes?  It would be much easier to identify them with a picture.

Answer
Hi Terry,

The confederate note, due to the poor condition, would probably only fetch $15-25.  Confederate Note are readily available on eBay.

The Bank of US note may be a replica, you would have to have that physically inspected or certified.  Check out this link, although you have probably already seen it.

Sorry I could not be of more help.
