Question
My father-in-law had a small coin collection. One of the coins is a 1883 nickel.  It has the word cents on the back.  I was just wondering what it might be worth.

Answer
Hello Jimmy,

1883 Liberty Head (Barber) Nickel:
There were 2 kinds made some with the word cents below the V and some without it. Any coin must be seen and graded by an experienced person to be valued.
The Liberty Head Nickel with a V on the back retailing from $4.00 in grade 4 (good) to 10.00 for a grade 50 (Almost Un-circulated). And if it has the word CENTS below the V from $10 in grade 4 to $70.00 for a grade 50.

In Mint State grade 60 to 63 they sell from $25 to $50 for the without cents type and $125 to $175 for the with cents type.

If you think your coin grades higher than Grade 63 write me again for more information.

If there any more information you require on this question just ask.

Thank You and Good Luck
