Question
I have been looking everywhere to see if there is going to be a return to the old style quarter of 1998 or has the Mint come up with a new design? I can't locate any information on this. Thank you, Bill

Answer
Hi Bill,

In 2009, the mint will be starting a new quarter program, featuring 6 U.S. territories :

Washington, D.C.
Puerto Rico
Guam
American Samoa
U.S. Virgin Islands
Commonwealth of Northern Marianas Islands

Possible designs are shown in the Numismatic News article here :

http://www.numismaticnews.net/Default.aspx?tabid=936&articleid=10943&articlemid=...

After that, Congress is in the process of approving another quarter program covering National Parks and other national treasures in each state and territory -- that could run over 10 years more.  There are articles about this on the Numismatic News website too.

I hope this helps,

Dan

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.

Experience

I've been a coin dealer since the 1980's and a coin collector since the 1960's. I specialize in U.S. Silver Coins and have an active online website -- The Working Man's Rare Coins -- http://www.workingmancoins.com -- offering information and inventory in U.S. coins.
