Coin and Paper Money Collecting/JFK token

Question
My son found a very badly worn JFK token in our back yard. It is about the size of the Kennedy 1/2 dollar, but is made of an unknown metal. Perhaps copper?

On the front is a forward-facing picture of Kennedy. It says "35th president/ of the united states" along the front bottom.  On either side is a date: 1961 and 1963.
The back says a few things about his life such as his name and birth date, "World War II naval hero", "First Catholic president", "established peace corps", and a few other details including his death date.

There are no wheat stalks or other design on the front or back.

Answer
This sounds like some kind of a medal, or perhaps a token.  The best place to find unusual items is on eBay, the garage sale marketplace of the Internet.  I'd go there, www.ebay.com, and do a search for Kennedy medal, or Kennedy token, perhaps even putting some of the words from your piece into the search too.  See what comes up.  Eventually (you may have to go back later when new material will have come on), so long as your piece isn't very rare, one will come on for sale.  Try a similar search at www.google.com for Internet sites with your piece.  Jim Lawniczak
