Coin and Paper Money Collecting/US Mint Packaging Error

Question
Hi, I just received two of the Presidential Coin plus First Spouse Medal sets from the US Mint.  One was for Thomas Jefferson and the other for James Madison.  However, the James Madison coin plus medal were sealed with an insert for Thomas Jefferson not the one for Madison.  In other words the Mint sealed the wrong insert in the Madison package.  Does this increase the value of the error set?  Thanks.

Answer
Hello Robert,

I could not find the sets on the US Mints product list? They only had the James Monroe Presidential $1 Coin and the Elizabeth Monroe Bronze Medal
As item number XN2. Can you tell me what item numbers you ordered?

Historically there is no great markup for miss-packaging on coins. I imagine the medals are the same.

You may indeed find someone wanting this miss packaging as a novelty if you prove it was not tampered with.

Or if you want to keep your sets intact with the cert.‘s as many collectors do, just contact the Mint and they will send you the proper Coin and Medal with the correct certification for the set you paid for.

I hope this information helps.

Good Luck
