Coin and Paper Money Collecting/Silver bar 1973

Question
Hello,
I am not sure if this is your area of expertise or not, but thought I would take a chance. I have done a search on google and other sites to try and find some information on a 1773-1973 Boston Tea Party silver bar. On the back there is a picture of the Tea Party and writing etched into on either side of the picture. The writing is a description of what the Tea Party actually was. On the other side is the dates 1773-1973 and then under it states that it is one pure ounce of Troy silver, or something to that effect, I don't recall just exactly how it is worded and do not have it in front of me at the moment.

Thank you for any information you can give.
Samantha

Answer
Samantha,

This is a privately minted art bar.  It could have come from a number of companies -- unless marked it's almost impossible to tell.

Its value will be based on the ounce of silver it contains -- currently about $13.00

You might get lucky to get a few more dollars for it if you sell it on eBay.

I hope this helps,

Dan

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.

Experience

I've been a coin dealer since the 1980's and a coin collector since the 1960's. I specialize in U.S. Silver Coins and have an active online website -- The Working Man's Rare Coins -- http://www.workingmancoins.com -- offering information and inventory in U.S. coins.
