Question
I have a 1943 grey colored wheat penny, and a 1945 nickel that is the same color, but has a "D" above the monticello. I was wondering what the value on these two coins would be. I also have two buffalo nickels,in excellent condition. One from 1916,and the other from 1936. There is no mint mark on either of these nickels, and I have one mercury dime from 1941 with a mark next to the date that looks like a crown or something like that. Oops, cant forget about the Liberty "V" nickel, its from 1911,in excellent shape also. If you could tell me the value on all of these coins, and any other info you have on them I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Answer
Jesse,

No fortunes there, but here are the values :

1943 steel cent -- 5 cents (they made a billion of them)

1945-D nickel -- has about 25 cents worth of silver in it

1916 buffalo nickel -- $5.00

1936 buffalo nickel -- $1.00

1941 mercury dime -- $1.00 worth of silver in it -- the crown you are seeing is actually a monogram of A & W, for the designer's initials Alfred Weinman

1911 Liberty "V" nickel -- $3.00 if you can read the LIBERTY in the headband -- $1.00 if you can't

I hope this helps,

Dan

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.
