Coin and Paper Money Collecting/indiana quarter

Question
Hi, I ran across an indian quarter that looks weird...completely missing the elevated ridge on the outside of the coin and about half of "INDIANA" is not stamped on it.  Is this a real coin or a fake?  Thanks!

Answer
Hi Rachel,
It is probably genuine.  Without seeing it, I can only surmise that it was struck off-center, hence the missing letters.  By elevated ride, do you mean the reeded edge that is normally on the edge of the coin?  If this is the case, that is another error all together.

Don't sppend it, it is worth more than face value.  That would be determined upon inspection by a professional numismatist.
