Question
I hear that, although not having the silver content of pre-1965 quarters, dimes, and nickles, that these coins through this era still have some significant silver content. Is this true and are they worth hanging on to if found throughout my loose change? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks...Russ....

Answer
There is silver in half dollars, quarters and dimes until 1964. There is no silver in quarters and dimes after 1964, and nickles were silver only between 1942 and 1945. There is some silver in half dollars between 1965 and 1970. There is no silver in any coin made for circulation after 1970.
