Question
hey I have a dime made in 1947 and it has a silver edge, no brown line like the others have, i have heard of a 1964 one like that but 1947? Is it worth anything?

Answer
Hello Courtney,

All dimes, Quarters, Half Dollars and Dollar coins made before 1965 were made of 90% silver alloyed with 10% copper.

These coins are now worth at least 11 times the face value of each coin for the silver metal content alone. They sell for more than this if they are in a collectable state of preservation. And more if there is numismatic value by virtue of its rarity or high grade on the coin scale that runs from 1 to 70 points.

Thank You and Good Luck
