Coin and Paper Money Collecting/unstamped penny

Question
I have what I think to be an unstamped penny. It is the same size of a penny and seems to be the same thickness. Is it possible to have a penny that has come out of a mint unstamped?

Answer
Hello Cory,

One cent blanks are one of the most common found in circulation. If it is real it should weigh 2.5 grams.

There are two types of coin blanks. The type one has a rougher edge.
For the type 2 the Mint makes the blank and then rolls an edge onto the coin causing a raised rim on both sides.
If it is an actual blank both types are valued about the same selling at coin shows around $2 usually less than $5 dollars for the One Cent blank. There is no great demand but collectors do purchase them.

I hope this information helps.

Good Luck
