Question
I have a 1900 Indianhead penny; back is "one cent" in center. Is this something a coin collector would be interested in, or is it fairly common? Should i pursue its sale, and if yes, how much do you think? I don't know quality but I can read all words but it seems fairly used (smooth in places) but still see all raised pictures.

Answer

Sample of a Mint State
Hello Brenda,

This is a common coin but there are still collectors interested in them or a new collector could always use it to start a collection.

The sale value is decided by the state of preservation and whether the coin has ever been cleaned or has any damage.  In the circulated grades from  Good (grade 4), to Extremely Fine (grade-40), the value ranges from $1.00 to $6.00.

You can get a quick grade by looking at the face of the coin!
Does it have the word LIBERTY in the headband on the war bonnet?
Are the beads on the necklace easy to see?
And diamonds in the hair ribbon visible?

If it looks as detailed as the one pictured it will sell for more than Six Dollars.

If there are not at least 3 letters of “LIBERTY” in the headband the coin may sell for about a dollar.

Thank You and Good Luck
