1987 50 Yuan gold coin
Sorry forgot to attach the image can you tell me the value and the authencity of this coin thx

1987 50 Yuan gold coin in PROOF UNC+ condition (please see scans below). This piece weighs 1/2 troy oz (15.55 grams) and is 999 pure; it is in a great state of preservation; all details of the coin are crisp, clear and perfectly defined

Answer
Hi Chantal,
This certainly appears to be an excellent specimen, and based on the weight and appearance I feel confident in its authenticity. There were 91,000 of this coin minted in 1987.
As far as value, they usually sell for about 10% above gold bullion value as a raw, un-certified coin. That translates to around $550. For one that has been professionally graded in perfect condition, the price increased by about another $100.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
