Question
Hi Dan,

I inherited coins that are from the Morgan Mint. I have not been able to find out much about some of these coins. One is a 2000 Tri-Color U.S. silver eagle; enhanced by plating with genuine 24K rose, green and yellow gold. Does this coin have any value?

Unfortunately Carol, if anything, it's lost value by being colorized. You can't sell it as a regular Silver Eagle -- neither collectors nor dealers will buy it.

It does still contain an ounce of silver -- the gold it's plated with is essentially worthless -- so if you discount it a couple dollars below the spot price of silver, you should be able to sell it.
