Question
I have what i believe to be a copper coin with significant wear. it reads "1857 Republica Oriental Del Uruguay" on one side it has what looks like a sun. on the reverse side it has 20 centesimos
Hi CJ, these copper Uruguay 20c coins were minted in Lyon, France and collector value may be worth about $2 with heavy wear to around $10 with moderate wear to maybe $22 with light wear.
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
