Question
hello,
i'd like to know the value of one 'seudo' which was made in 1675 under Clement X. this piece commemorates the jubilee of the opening of the holy saint door.  this coin is in great  condition as my father was a numismat. if you can't answer, please refer me to somebody competent with this type of coin and era.

thank you.

Answer

Scudo-1675
Hi Lucie,
There are actually two variations for this coin, both of which have fairly similar values. Please see the attached picture. The bottom piece actually has the holy saint door open, but they are often both referred to as commemorating the opening.
The one on top, which shows the pope, is the slightly less scarce variety. An example in top grade would sell in the $750-$1,000 range at auction.
The bottom piece, which has the Vatican coat of arms, would be in the $900-$1,200 range for the same condition.
These prices are for the American market. If being sold overseas and for euros the price may be as much as 25% higher.
If you want to post a follow-up question with a picture of your coin, I would be able to give you more specific information on the value.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
