Coin and Paper Money Collecting/silver medallions

Question
I have a set of 30 medallions, The Great American Series, in very high relief. I forget where I purchased them on line but it was back in the 60's and 70's.

Is there a market for these beside just the silver value?? Where do I go to find a fair value? I have other medallions and silver coins but will start with these

John

Answer
John,

I'm not specifically familiar with that series, but being privately minted, the resale market for them is prettymuch non-existant, other than for the value of whatever silver they may contain.

Weigh them in Troy ounces, assume they are Sterling (92.5% silver), and go to www.kitco.com to get the current silver price.

Once you calculate the silver value, any honest dealer should give you within $1.00 per ounce of the spot price for them.

I hope this helps,

Dan

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.

Experience

I've been a coin dealer since the 1980's and a coin collector since the 1960's. I specialize in U.S. Silver Coins and have an active online website -- The Working Man's Rare Coins -- http://www.workingmancoins.com -- offering information and inventory in U.S. coins.
