Coin and Paper Money Collecting/1711 Spanish Coin

Question
Hi. I have a copper coin, dated 1711, that reads to one side 'Hispaniarum Rex 1711', to the reverse 'Philippus V Dei Grat'. The Kings details are around the usual lion and castle crest, the 1711 legend is around a large letter 'V', crowned, with a small number 6 in the centre. The mint letters around the crest appear to be 'F' and 'V'. It measures around 26mm in diameter and is slightly off centre.  Beyond being Spanish or of Spanish origins I don't know any more. I would be grateful for any information, please. Thanks in advance, Marc

Answer
Hi Marc,
This is indeed a coin from Spain, during the rule of Phillip (Felipe) V. This is a 6 maravedis, more commonly known as a Seiseno. In good condition with clear legends it's worth between $20 and $30. Especially sharp example are $50+.
If you would like to post a follow-up question with a picture of the coin, I can give you more specific information on value.
Please don't forget to rate this answer.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
