Coin and Paper Money Collecting/90% silver quarters

Question
I have 10 dollars of 90% silver quarters ranging from 45-52. How do I go about selling them and how much is it worth? I want to get a fair deal.

Answer
Hi Robert,
Most local dealers typically offer 10x face value. There are plenty that will try to low-ball you, but for the most part 10x is the going rate. However, on eBay a roll typically sells for 12x-13x face value. If you were to sell it on eBay there would be about $8 or so in fees, but the net total would be a good $15-$20 more than if you sold it locally. It really becomes a question of whether you prefer the ease of local dealers or the extra bit of cash.
Just as I'm answering this question I saw a roll of silver Washington quarters sell for $128.55 + $5 shipping on eBay.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
