Coin and Paper Money Collecting/British Spade Guineas

Question
QUESTION: I have 1793 gold George III 1/2 guinea, 1793 full guinea and 1771 full guinea. I would like to know what a realistic value is on the open market.

Thanks

ANSWER: Hi Danny,
Condition is extremely important for these coins. Please note that the auction estimates are a wide range to account for differences between the US and British markets.
The 1771, which is the best date from your three coins, starts at around $350 to $450 in well worn condition, a nice one without damage easily jumps to the $1,200 to $1,800 range. A mint condition coin is very rare and would sell for over $3,000 to $4,000. The bare bullion value would be less than $300.
The 1793 is a more common date. As such, it starts at only 10%-15% above bullion and tops off at around $1,000. The same goes for the 1793 1/2 guinea, which tops out at right around $750 for an un-certified mint condition coin.
If you would like to post a follow up question with a picture of the portrait sides, I can give you more specific value information.

QUESTION: Hello Dmitry,
I have taken pics of the coins, but can't figure out how to post them?  I also have an 1854 CA Gold Rush half dollar and a 1850 dollar.  Same question, realistic value?
Thanks Again!!
Danny

Answer
Danny,
You can e-mail me the pics directly at BetweenEarthnSky@yahoo.com and I will grade them based on the photos.
For the US gold coins you may want to pose the question to one of the experts in US coins. I am knowledgeable in foreign coins and related items only.
Thanks again! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
