Coin and Paper Money Collecting/Copper Nickel

Question
I received a copper nickel the other day and the date is 2000.  Is this real or a fake...?

Thanks.

Answer
Hi Scott,
I don't know.  It shouldn't be made of copper, it should be nickel.  Howevere, it doesn't mean that it wasn't plated or that it was struck on the wrong material.
I would have to inspect the coin to tell you if it is genuine and what it's worth.
If you want to send it to our offices in NY, let me know and I will provide shipping instructions.
