Question
Hi, I found a coin today, it is a john and Robert Kennedy coin. There faces are in profile facing the left and around the edge it says john f Kennedy 1963 and Robert keneddy 1968. On the other side there is a man holding a dagger in his right hand and a cross in his left, he is also wearing a crown the word aureum is around the edge.

Is it important?

Answer
Chris,

It's not a U.S. Mint item -- best I can deduce is that it's possibly from Italy (aureum is a Roman word for gold coin), or that it's a privately minted medal.

In any case, its value will only be for whatever gold or silver it may contain -- otherwise it is worth maybe a dollar or two to a medal collector.

I hope this helps,

Dan

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.

Experience

I've been a coin dealer since the 1980's and a coin collector since the 1960's. I specialize in U.S. Silver Coins and have an active online website -- The Working Man's Rare Coins -- http://www.workingmancoins.com -- offering information and inventory in U.S. coins.
