Coin and Paper Money Collecting/Selling and buying coins

Question
Good evening. I was reading your area of expertise. What is the best US coins to invest in at this moment? Which ones do you think are under valued and have a chance to jump over the next year or so?

I have also been buying silver coins in my area and have been paying pennies on the dollar as far as actual value gos. I have also been buying AU and BU morgans and have stockpiled close to 1000 of them. In your opinion, is it better for me to start sellng now or hold out for awhile and see if silver prices go up. How much does the fluctuating silver market affect antique coin sells. Thanks.

Answer
Hi Todd,
My opinion is that as the economy tightens up more, hobbies will be put on the back burner.  Many collectors will be forced to sell.
Therefore, I suggest not holding numismatic coins at this time, instead buy silver bullion.
Silver dollars are good, but only contain about 3/4 oz of silver.  Unless you can buy them in the $14-16 range, I would hold off for now.  If you bought them cheaply, consider sellinga nd putting the proceeds into 100 oz silver bars, or smaller bars/coins with lower premiums.

Certainly anything tied to the price of gold or silver will rise as the markets do, but you want to maximize your return.  Back in the early 80's, it didn't matter if a coin was rare or not, dealers bought based on silver and gold content.  Items were pouring out  of the woodwork and dealers could pick and choose what they would buy.
I hope this helped you.
