Question i have a coin from 1912 the front says otto koenig von bayern the back reads deutsches Reich 1912 on the bottom drie mark whats this coin original value and is it valuable today?
Answer Hi Jason,
You have a 3 mark coins from the German state of Bavaria. These coins were made in three different denominations with the same design. (Zwei = two, drei = three, funf = five).
German states coins are quite popular among collectors, especially some of the larger states, which Bavaria is.
The current market value on your coin starts at $10-$15 for a well used coin, up to $30-$40 for one with only minimal wear. If you happen to have one in mint condition you can expect in the $60-$80 range. Gem coins that have been professionally graded and certified by one of the three major companies (NGC, PCGS, ANACS) command a significant premium over these prices.
If you would like to post a follow-up question with a picture of your coin, I can give you more exact value information.
