Question

coin
I have a common wealth coin dated 1788. problem is .Books say they took a year before getting the ok to print. This coin resembles the coins dated in 1788 except for the lettering.

Answer
Douglas,

It looks to me like a modern replica.

I suggest you find a local coin show, take the coin with you, and show it to several of the dealers there, so you can get a first-hand appraisal.

Try the following websites for listings of coin shows :

www.coinshows.com

Good luck,

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.
