french franc
Hi
I have a 1 french franc note which belonged to my grandfather and i wondered if there was any value to these notes. It's condition is fair although it has been kept flat.
thankyou

Answer
Hi Fiona, this is a notgeld 1 Franc note (emergency money) issued during WWI by the northern French towns of Roubaix and Tourcoing located between Lille and the Belgian border. It is dated April 20, 1916.

It appears to be worth about $1 in that condition but its a heck of a piece of family history if your grandfather was dodging bullets in the area at the time. It was likely worth about 20 U.S. cents at the time.
