Coin and Paper Money Collecting/miss strike dime

Question
My son found a dime that has a rather large bump on the back side with the torch and leaf design visible over the raised area. The date on the dime is not visible. From the condition of the dime my guess is that it is not a new dime but does have FDR on the front. Any potential here for my sons college fund?

Answer
Hi Larry,
Was the bump caused by a depression on the flip side of the coin?  If not, it's probably just a bubble between the layers of the copper and nickel; I am assuming of course that this is a post 1964 clad coin.
It's had to determine anything without inspecting the coin.
However, you will have to continue to save for the college tuition.
